Philosophical Enquiry is an accessible and engaging way to think with others and to think for yourself – at every age and stage of life.
About Philosophical Enquiry (P4C)
Through facilitated dialogue, philosophical enquirers explore questions that matter to them and are meaningful, while learning about themselves, others, and the world around them.
Widely known in education as Philosophy for Children (P4C), this approach offers a powerful pedagogy for teaching oracy, critical thinking, metacognition, and self-regulation. It combines speaking, listening, and thinking, which together unlock the intellectual, social, and emotional capacities necessary for educational engagement and attainment. In busy classrooms and a changing world, P4C creates space for the conversations that really count, improving wellbeing, relationships, and community, and equipping learners to engage thoughtfully in the wider world.
Also called Philosophy for Communities in secondary, further, higher, alternative, informal, and professional education, P4C is an equally powerful tool for helping teenagers and adults to disagree agreeably.
