Our Youth Board will come from secondary schools that regularly practice P4C and will help inform Board decision-making as our main stakeholders.

We are in the process of establishing our Youth Board, comprising young people aged 14-18 from across our P4C schools. Many will have been doing philosophy at their school since they joined in Y7, and some will have taken part in our training programme to facilitate philosophical enquiry with younger students or peers.
Our Youth Board will be there to consult and co-create as our main stakeholders. They will be engaged in governance, communications and programme development. They will represent the voice of their peers from across the UK and help the charity make decisions that will best impact on the lives of young people.
Every young person on the board should be passionate about representing young people’s views and advocating for philosophy in education at all levels, and believe, like us, that this philosophical education should be available to everyone.

What is the commitment?
- Attend online Board Meetings 4 times a year.
- Agree to attend one Trustee Meeting within your time as a Youth Board Member and report back to the Youth Board.
- Your Board Meetings will have a member of the Trustee Board there, so they can report back to the Board, but we would like a member of the Youth Board to be Chair.
What do pupils gain by being involved in the Youth Board
Pupils will:
- Develop key skills like public speaking, leadership skills, decision-making, and organisational management.
- Receive free online training with Thoughtful in facilitating philosophical conversations with others.
- Attend and speak at conferences and special events.
- Meet like-minded young people across the UK.
- A great addition for CVs and work experience.
- Your voice can be used for change in a real-world organisation trying to make a difference to education.
