Thoughtful Trainer Alison Allsopp

Alison is an Advanced Level 2 trainer who has career long experience of teaching P4C to children and training teachers. Alison mentors and supports teachers and schools to introduce and implement a sustainable programme for P4C.

Alison came to P4C as a Primary teacher and School Leader; she held a long-standing role leading whole school P4C transformation across schools in Hampshire, nationally and globally. Subsequently, she was the National Training Manager for SAPERE from 2009 to 2021, overseeing the development of the training pathway and courses. Her area of expertise is many years of hands-on practice of facilitating P4C enquiries with children and adults, and mentoring teachers to become philosophical practitioners and P4C trainers. She knows first-hand how to incorporate P4C through teaching and learning within all aspects of the curriculum and adapting the approach for all age ranges.

Also known as the Philosophical Thinking Life Coach (accredited), Alison runs her own ‘Finding your Life Direction’ course for people who wish to take a philosophical approach to finding more purpose and meaning in life.

Alison is also the founder of ‘Philosophical Friends’, a monthly local community discussion group with the aim of bringing practical philosophy into everyday lives. Alison was a TEDxTalk speaker, October 2025, offering her perspective on the value of philosophical thinking for everyone, individuals, communities and the wider society.
