Brian is the Director of Education for Reading and has 20 years of public service experience, he joined the Thoughtful Board in 2025.

Brian has held leadership roles with responsibility for improving educational outcomes across early years, primary and secondary schools in a county, unitary authorities and a London borough. Achievements include delivering 32 children’s centres across a county, establishing new impactful and inclusive primary and secondary provisions, and overseeing programmes to improve attainment for disadvantaged groups.
Brian is passionate about education and children’s well-being, which is why he is such a strong believer in philosophy for children, knowing it can unlock learning and improve the lives of children, particularly those who are disadvantaged.
In addition to his current role as Director of Education, Brian is also a member of the Reading University Institute of Education Strategic Advisory Board, the Museums Partnership Reading committee and the New Directions College governance board.
