Dr Maria Prodromou

Thoughtful Trainer

Maria is a Thoughtful Level 1, 2 and 3 Trainer who has contributed to several key Thoughtful (formerly SAPERE) projects, including Thinking Together in Science and RE, the Welsh Equalities Project, and Building Resilience to Extremism through Enquiry (BREE). She contributes to professional standards review and quality assurance of new and existing courses.

Maria Prodromou is a group facilitator, philosopher, educator, and psychotherapist-in-training based in London. Her work centres on connection through dialogue and enquiry and she practises a relational, trauma-informed approach to all her work.

For over 20 years, Maria has worked with children, young people, teachers, and educators, supporting more thoughtful, reflective, and connected ways of being, in the UK and internationally. Her work with Bertha Earth has centred on facilitating environmental education and leadership for young people through nature connection while much of her work with Thoughtful and beyond has focused on developing anti-racist and inclusive pedagogies and cultures.

Maria strives to facilitate spaces where people can think, feel, speak, and listen together in ways that can support real change in how we relate to ourselves and others.

Maria holds a PhD in Continental Philosophy, and certificates in Counselling (Metanoia), Groupwork (Gestalt Centre London) and Environmental Arts Therapy (EATUK). She is currently training as a Gestalt Psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute (London).

She lives in London with her young daughter and husband.
