Simon Hyde-White
Simon is a Thoughtful Academic Trainer, facilitating P4C Level 1 training at the University of Gloucestershire. He is also a senior lecturer in primary education specialising in physical education and religious education.
Simon is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at the University of Gloucestershire, specialising in Religious Education, Physical Education and Philosophy for Children (P4C). His professional interests centre on enquiry-led learning, values education and the development of children’s critical, creative, collaborative and caring thinking. Simon leads P4C across several programmes, integrating it deeply into RE teaching through a Religion and Worldviews approach, and modelling reflective, inclusive pedagogy across both RE and PE. He work closely with local schools, facilitating P4C enquiries with pupils and supporting staff to embed enquiry-based practice. Simon’s wider interests include sustainable education, outdoor learning and the role of dialogue in building confident, thoughtful learners.
Alongside his professional life, I am a husband and dad to two children, and much of his personal inspiration comes from family life and the curiosity children naturally bring to philosophical questions. Outside of work, he enjoys walking, reading and visiting the theatre — all of which strengthen his appreciation of story, reflection and shared human experience
